Now, it’s time to hit the dairy aisle for some creamy goodness. Grab a cup of heavy cream and a stick of unsalted butter.

Lastly, don’t forget the chicken or vegetable broth to give our soup that rich and savoury base.

With all these ingredients in hand, you’re ready to take your soup-making skills to the next level!

Preparing the Sweet Potatoes

Start by scrubbing and peeling the vibrant orange skins of the root vegetables, revealing the smooth flesh underneath. Once the sweet potatoes are clean and peeled, chop them into small, even pieces. This will ensure that they cook evenly and quickly, resulting in a creamy and smooth soup.

Next, heat a large pot on the stove and add a generous amount of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the chopped sweet potatoes and sauté them for a few minutes until they start to soften and become fragrant. This step helps enhance the natural sweetness of the potatoes.

Adding the Spices and Seasonings

Once the sweet potatoes are chopped and sautéed to perfection, it’s time to infuse them with a tantalizing blend of flavours and seasonings. Start by adding a generous sprinkle of cinnamon, which will bring warmth and depth to the soup. Follow it up with a pinch of thyme, which adds a subtle earthy note.

Don’t forget to season with salt and pepper to enhance the overall taste. To elevate the sweetness of the potatoes, a drizzle of maple syrup will do wonders. The syrup won’t only add a hint of sweetness but also a touch of richness.
